Public Health Wales Microbiology Cardiff is situated within the University Hospital of Wales and Llandough Hospital and is one of the largest Microbiology Laboratories in Wales, providing a wide range of diagnostic services to hospitals, clinics and general practitioners of South Glamorgan and throughout the Principality. The laboratory offers a comprehensive Bacteriology service, incorporates a specialist Virology centre, Molecular and Mycology units, the National Anaerobe Reference Unit, Specialist Antimicrobial Chemotherapy Unit the Wales Centre for Mycobacteria and the newly formed Pathogen Genomics Unit. The Clinical Laboratories are ISO accredited and approved by a number of bodies for training purposes.
PHW are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our team within PenGU. The role will include the provision of bioinformatics support to the Pathogen Genomics Programme for Public Health Wales and directly contributing to the research activities of the Unit. The individual will assist in the development of the infectious disease genomics service.
