Biography:

Dr. Ashish Kumar Vyas is an Assistant Professor at the Amrita Research Center, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Faridabad. Before joining Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, he served as an Assistant Professor and group leader Immunology research at the JC Martin Centre for Liver Research and Innovations in Kolkata and as a DST Inspire Faculty (2018-2022) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal, MP. He began his academic journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from APS University, Rewa, MP. He then pursued a Post-Graduation in Biotechnology from St. Joseph’s College, Trichy, Tamil Nadu. He earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in New Delhi. Following this, he conducted postdoctoral research in Prof. Kapoor’s research group at the Center for Vaccines and Immunity, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, USA. He has made significant contributions to the field of hepatitis B, specifically in mother-to-baby vertical transmission, identifying HBV receptors on placental cells. He has authored and co-authored over 50 international research papers in high-impact journals, significantly advancing the understanding of maternal immunity in Hepatitis B vertical transmission and other critical issues in biomedicine. He has received numerous prestigious fellowships and awards from esteemed national agencies such as DST, ICMR, and international societies including AASLD, EASL, APASL, KASL, ICID, ISGCON, and INASL. These accolades recognize his invaluable impact on the fields of immunology and biomedical sciences. Professionally, He has successfully managed various research grants as both Principal Investigator and Co-PI, demonstrating his expertise in research leadership.

He is a member of various scientific societies and serves as an editorial member and reviewer for prestigious journals. Dr. Vyas’s current research focuses on identifying biomarkers for predicting severe liver disease progression, understanding the mechanisms of liver regeneration, exploring the clinical aspects of extracellular vesicles, and investigating the immunological impact of cell and gene therapy.
