Biography:

I am a Postdoctoral research fellow and a Research laboratory coordinator within the Immunology Research Group (ChegouLab) at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. I am involved in projects seeking to discover and validate host biomarkers for pulmonary TB and other forms of Extrapulmonary TB (EPTB), contributing to the evaluation of TB diagnostic and monitoring response biomarkers towards clinical application. In addition, I coordinate lab-related activities to ensure the smooth running of experiments, supervise students, and oversee activities within the research group.

I obtained my PhD from the University of Oslo, Norway, following a joint collaboration work with Stellenbosch University, during which I evaluated host blood biosignatures as diagnostic tools for TB in low and high-endemic settings. In addition to pursuing research in TB biomarker discovery, my focus is to leverage my existing skills while acquiring new proficiencies to contribute to the scientific endeavours of identifying candidate biomarkers for translation into point-of-care tests. This aligns with my passion for applying cutting-edge technologies towards advancing biomarker research to enhance patient outcomes through targeted therapies, more accurate diagnostic tools, and refined vaccine strategies, thereby transforming healthcare by enabling more personalised and effective interventions.
