Biography:

Dr. Hanif Shaikh is a global health and clinical research professional with over 18 years of experience in vaccine development, infectious disease research, and implementation of early- to late-phase clinical trials in low- and middle-income countries. He holds a PhD in Pharmacology and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®). He has led multinational studies with the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and CDSA-THSTI, contributing to research on tuberculosis, cholera, typhoid, and influenza vaccines. His work spans protocol development, regulatory strategy, ethics submissions, and field-based trial execution.

Dr. Shaikh’s core research interests include vaccine clinical development, GCP implementation, and translational research for neglected diseases, especially tuberculosis. He has been actively involved in capacity building for biomanufacturing, regulatory system strengthening, and clinical trial infrastructure in LMICs. As a program lead for IVI’s GTH-B (Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing), he has supported institutional readiness across Africa and Asia by training national regulatory authorities, ethics committees, and research teams. He is passionate about fostering South–South collaboration, mentoring early-career researchers, and advancing equitable global health innovation through interdisciplinary partnerships.
