The Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology is situated on the historic Charité Campus Mitte in the center of Berlin. The Institute is dedicated to understanding infection and disease from an ecological to molecular scale. It is equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities.
The Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology invites applications for new independent Max Planck Research Group Leaders. We welcome applications from outstanding young researchers in the fields of infection biology, epidemiology, immunology, chemistry, physics, computer science, mathematics, developmental biology, historical and social sciences. The successful candidates will be innovative scientists who will establish internationally recognized research programs, preferably with an interdisciplinary approach, to tackle significant unsolved problems in infectious diseases.
Applicants should hold an advanced degree and have significant post-doctoral experience. The position is a Max Planck Research Group Leader (MPRGL), equivalent to an Assistant/ Associate Professor (W2). The initial appointment of the group leader is for 5 years with the possibility of extension (2 × 2 years) after review. The position provides a startup package, yearly personnel and running costs, well-equipped laboratory space, as well as access to core facilities. The starting date is negotiable.
