Biography:

I am a cellular immunologist with over 30 years experience in infection and immunity. I have worked on the immune response to mycobacteria in cattle since 2000. I am currently leading research on the immune response to mycobacteria with the aim of developing improved vaccines and diagnostics. Particular interests include the elucidation of the components of the adaptive immune response that contribute to the detection of cattle infected with mycobacteria and identification of potentially novel immune response signatures that would permit the identification of cattle infected in farms. I have authored over 90 scientific publications. I have been PI and co-applicant in projects funded by the BBSRC and DEFRA. I am a member of the editorial board of the journal TBED. I have acted as a referee for funders such as the BBSRC, Wellcome Trust, WOTRO etc.I have also acted as an examiner for MSc and PhD candidates.
