Biography:

I am a trained Laboratory Scientist with specialization (PhD) in Chemical Pathology. Currently, I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Molecular Medicine, School of Medicine and Dentistry, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana lecturing Chemical Pathology and Biochemistry to students offering BSc. Human Biology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy. I am also Research Fellow with the Global Health and Infectious Disease Group at KCCR. He has more than Eighteen (18) years of training in extensive practice of Laboratory Science (Clinical) in the specialized areas of Clinical Chemistry, Immunology and Molecular Biology.

I had a postdoc training at the Department of Human Genetics, University of Michigan for six months in techniques in identifying Single Nucleotide Polymorphism using the Ligation detection reaction (LDR) for typing single base mutations or polymorphism. This further enhanced his molecular and cellular biology. I worked with H3 Africa lab (Noguchi Memorial Institute) where I served as a Laboratory Consultant responsible for training research scientists in the use of PCR-LDR techniques for SNPs identification.

My area of research is looking at the Genetic basis of diseases. I have worked on SNPs in SLC10A1 gene among Ghanaians infected with Hepatitis B virus, Genetic markers (SNPs) associated with dyslipidaemia in HIV on Antiretroviral therapy, TCF7L2 gene association with Type 2 Diabetes. Currently working on various SNPs and their role in varying diseases. I have over 70 publications in referred journals.
