Ole Olesen

Following studies at the universities of Aarhus, Denmark and Cambridge, UK, Ole worked for 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry as group leader and project director for pre-clinical and clinical development of vaccines and injectables. He has subsequently held positions as principal scientific officer for infectious diseases at the European Commission and director of international cooperation at the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), before focusing on non-profit vaccine development at the European Vaccine Initiative (EVI), and the TuBerculosis Vaccine Initiative (TBVI). Ole is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburg, and has held the position of affiliated professor in global health at Copenhagen University. Throughout his work life, Ole has gained considerable experience in conducting and managing large international research projects on vaccine development, capacity strengthening, global health and basic vaccinology.
