Biography:
I am a first-year Ph.D. student at the University of Nevada, Reno in the lab of Paul J. Brett, Ph.D. and Mary N. Burtnick, Ph.D, where we study Burkholderia pseudomallei and the development of a protective vaccine against melioidosis. Within the lab my projects include optimizing the adjuvant system of the laboratory’s lead melioidosis glycoconjugate-based subunit vaccine formulation. This includes optimizing the aluminium and CpG component of the vaccine’s adjuvant system. I am also working on identifying correlates of immunity provided by the laboratory’s lead vaccine formulation. Additionally, I am using the lab’s established method of 10x Genomics and scRNA sequencing to identify antigen-specific monoclonal antibodies to protective antigens, Hcp1 and OPS.
