Biography:
My vision for research is to unravel the dynamic interplay between the immune system and Mtb at a cellular and molecular level. I aim to combine traditional microbiology and immunology, cutting-edge omics techniques, and computational approaches to provide profound insights into both host and bacterial immunity. The central research questions of my research are: The central research questions of my research are: What role do B cell clusters expressing germinal centre markers play in establishing local tissue immunity in the Mtb-infected lungs? Can we identify natural antibodies that protect against Mtb infection in humans? What antibody-independent functions of B cells regulate T cell and innate cell responses, and how do they contribute to protective vs. adverse immunity in TB? Finally (and perhaps most importantly), can we apply the fundamental knowledge gained by answering these questions to develop efficient vaccines, therapies, and diagnostics to fight TB?
