Research Keywords:

Burkholderia pseudomallei & Melioidosis in Humans and Animals

Trung received his bachelor degree in Microbiology from Hanoi University of Science, Vietnam National University. He then studied at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Greifswald University, Germany and successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "Burkholderia psuedomallei in Northern Vietnam: environmental detection and molecular characterizatino of strains" under the supervision of Professor Ivo Steinmetz. Now, Trung is leader of the bacterial group at Vietnam Type Culture Collection, Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Vietnam National University. He is strongly involved into the collaborative project named “Research Network on Melioidosis and Burkholderia pseudomallei - RENOMAB” funded by Vietnam and Germany. His current researches mainly focus on distribution of B. pseudomallei in the environment and the prevalence of melioidosis in different regions in Vietnam.
