Biography:
I am an Early Career Researcher particularly interested in understanding the human immuno-pathology of TB. I was first interested in looking into under-appreciated players in the field of TB and I started a project aiming at characterizing NK and B cells in the context of TB in progression to the disease but also in human tissues. Recently, I started a new project aiming at understanding the role of lymph nodes in the containment or spread of TB disease using an arsenal of state-of-the-art immunology, microscopy and microbiology approach in post mortem samples. Ultimately, the information provided by these studies will have direct relevance to TB vaccine design and vaccination strategies. I am also an immunologist in a few vaccine clinical trials testing the vaccine candidate MTBVAC in adults and newborns and soon in a phase 3 safety and efficacy trial of the vaccine. Finally, with my engineering background, I am always very interested in new technologies and technology development and I developed and optimized the only mass cytometry platform on the African continent.
