VALIDATE 2023 Annual Meeting

The 2023 VALIDATE Annual Meeting will be held on the 7th and 8th March 2023, with an Early Career Researcher Workshop held on the 6th March, so please hold these dates in your diaries - more details to follow!

 

Funding:

  • NSG/BBSRC Work with US researchers – For US and UK researchers to submit a single collaborative proposal that will undergo a single review process by the lead agency, on behalf of both NSF/BIO and BBSRC - deadline 21 September 2022
  • AREF Fellowship - A 2-year fixed term full-time training fellowship with compensation including monthly stipend to cover living expenses and support for international travel for training purposes - deadline 22 September 2022
  • BBSRC-FAPESP: UK-Brazil collaborative projects - For UK-Brazil collaborative projects; research must be within BBSRC remit – deadline 28 September 2022
  • ERC Proof of Concept Grants - Funding to maximise the value of the excellent research that the ERC funds, by funding further work to verify the innovation potential of ideas arising from ERC funded projects - deadline 29 September 2022

Alfredo Torres congratulated the US CDC on detecting Melioidosis in Mississippi, the VPM1002 vaccine for TB passed an initial safety test (also reported by the Max Planck Institute), and DEVEX reported on the fight against TB in war-torn Ukraine. The BSI promoted grants to support attendance at their 2022 conference and Politico reported on the imbalance of spending on vaccines in rich and poor countries.
