30 VALIDATE Members gathered on Zoom for the first VALIDATE ECR Summer Showcase. Dr Nguyen Ho Lam from the University of Medicine & Pharmacy, Vietnam, Dr Nidhi Gupta from the Central University of Rajasthan, India, and Dr Rachel Tanner from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, gave short talks on their research and took questions from fellow VALIDATE members.

A Vaccine for Leprosy?

Next week: A Vaccine for Leprosy - 28 June 2022, 16:00 BST

The third in our "A Vaccine for" seminar series will take place next Tuesday. In "A Vaccine for Leprosy?", Dr Khushboo Borah Slater and Dr Chyntia Carolina Díaz Acosta will discuss the prospects for a vaccine for Leprosy, the disease caused by Mycobacteria Leprae of which there are still over 200,000 new cases of diagnosed every year. The seminar is open to everyone (including non-members), so please spread the word. This event will be especially interesting to vaccine researchers who do not study leprosy.

The Union opened submissions for TBScience 2022, LSE Impact had some advice for writing a conference abstract, and Stop TB Canada created an infographic about the fight against pandemics (including TB). Nature Careers offered £100 to take part in their survey of graduate students, shared a cartoon about the academic writing process and published an article on Peer to Peer career advice. Hugh Kearns shared his article on “Turbo Charging your writing, the University of Manchester shared a video about being an animal lab technician, and CEPI opened a call for submissions on research that reduces cold chain requirements. The Monitor newspaper reported on the limited progress made in fighting NTDs in Uganda, Politico covered the inequality of vaccine access, and the University of Sydney secured funding to study immune responses in TB.
