VALIDATE Seminar: Development of recombinant BCG vaccine for tuberculosis utilizing Major Membrane Protein-II (MMP-II) antigen - 29 June 2023, 13:00 BST

Dr Tsukamoto will discuss her work identifying an immunogenic Major Membrane Protein-II (MMP-II) antigen from Mycobacterium leprae, which led to the development of a new recombinant BCG vaccine.

Two talks from members at St George's, University London discusses the challenges of reconciling outcomes from different animal models in testing the Spore-FP1 mucosal vaccine candidate for TB.

VALIDATE Workshop - Resources & Strategies for Improving English - 26 July 2023, 15:00 BST

Following requests from VALIDATE members, we've teamed up with University of Oxford's Language Centre to support members for whom English is a second language with essential tips and resources to help you enhance your written and spoken English for the research environment.

VALIDATE PhD Showcase Series - 12 September 2023, 15:00 BST

Join us for the VALIDATE PhD Showcase Series, where our post-graduate members will have the opportunity to present their research to VALIDATE members worldwide. This is a great chance for them to share their work, raise their profile internationally, and practice giving an online presentation - and for everyone else to hear about their interesting research.

 

We always value input from our members on how we can improve and expand our events. Please feel free to reach out to us at VALIDATE@ndm.ox.ac.uk if...

  • ...you would like to present an area of your research to your peers in the VALIDATE Network.
  • ...you possess a particular skill set and are interested in conducting a training workshop to support your fellow members in their careers and research.
  • ...you have suggestions for future seminar or training workshop topics you would be interested in attending.

Funding:

  • AfOx Fellowship - provides fellows with an opportunity to work on a project of their choice in collaboration with Oxford-based scholars, while benefiting from the resources available at Oxford University for research - ongoing scheme
  • BSI Connect Immune Research Lab Placement Grants - Grants designed to fund researchers to undertake a formal placement at a selected laboratory to learn a new skill and/or technique, or to carry out experiments essential to a project - deadline 22 June 2023
  • MRC Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme - Funding to develop and test novel therapeutics, medical devices, diagnostics and other interventions - deadline 19 July
